I have been building up my team and my arena for a few season now. I think I have done a decent job getting from nothing to something.

My arena is Bleachers-17700, Lower Tier-1800, Courtside Seats-500, & Luxury Boxes-25. All prices are set for minimum.

My staff is:

Doctor
Skill Level: superior
Specialty: Taping Injuries
Last week's salary: $ 38 950

Trainer
Skill Level: advanced
Specialty: Fitness
Last week's salary: $ 22 960

PR-Manager
Skill Level: advanced
Specialty: Crowd Involvement
Last week's salary: $ 19 651

The puts my income at:
Attendance ~$145k
Merchandise ~$22k
TV ~$56k
less staff and salaries it clear $61k compared to $53k for the level V league.

My players are (position I play them, * = starter, noted if not playing at best position):

PG * http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/14919733/overview.aspx 6'2" Allstar PG, 23, DMI = 27900
PG http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/22091961/overview.aspx 6'1" Superstar PG, 19, DMI = 7700

SG * http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/14791489/overview.aspx 6'4" Allstar SG, 24, DMI = 19100 *Lead league - PPG
SG http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/16439848/overview.aspx 6'1" MVP SG, 23, DMI = 11700 (converted from PG)

SF * http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/20747700/overview.aspx 6'6" Allstar SF, DMI = 16800 (converted from PF)
SF http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/20747691/overview.aspx 6'7" Perenial Allstar PG, DMI = 50500 (no change in position this season)

PF * http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/16316761/overview.aspx 6'9" Perenial Allstar PF, DMI = 22100
PF http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/16316759/overview.aspx 6'10" Star C, DMI = 11100 (no change in position this season)

C * http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/18274463/overview.aspx 7'0" Superstar PF, DMI = 12000 (no change in position this season)
C http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/22091987/overview.aspx 7'0" Star PG, DMI = 36900 (no change in position this season)

what do you experience folks see?

Am I screwed up because I am trying to force a 7foot PG to be my center? For that matter do similar thoughts apply to other out of position moves?

I understand that DMI doesn't cover everything, just posted that info...

I went 18-4 this season, but dropped my frist round game #2 me vs #3 by 4 points to a team I beat twice in the regular season.

Any advice, any comments, any discussion will

1 - be helpful
2 - deepen the playing experience of this game

THANKS

One of the problems i see is that after 4 seasons playing your players should be better. With a top player at 6k thats not much better then a brand new team. Who are you training?

Wtf.. You have way too many seats for Div V ... You are selling 17k seats for $5 , it'd be the same thing if you were to sell 8,5k seats for $10 each. Stop building!! :D . I don't know about you but I think you are wasting so much cash on the doctor. I've got 10k doctor and doing fine. The funny thing that I also noticed is that I was making more profit for the whole season than you even though you have over twice the sized stadium that I have + 3 times lower player salaries. Think about that!

Only 2 of these players have been with my team for more than 2 years.
I sold off all of the older players early in my ownership.

But, you ask a good questions & its about a part of the game that I dont understand.

I mostly train stamina, pressure and things I can have everyone do.

What is the best way to set training?
Can you set individual positions to train, or if you go C & PF to train inside D... do the guards get the week off?

Well, since I have stayed solvent... I can easily stop building.

But then what?

And honestly, my arena and seats & finance are the least of my worries. How do I get better & more up from League V?

You should really read the forum from time to time. Every newbe gets told the same thing:

Decide what position you want to train (big or small), then get some trainees to fill the training spots, then wait till they get better. The other spots you can fill with older, but decent and cheap players.

It doesn't get you anywhere training stamina the whole time. So, my advice, wait for the draft and hope to get a nice trainee there. Then get one or two more on the TL and start training them. Very soon, they will become the best players of your team.

If you have questions about something, check out the forum.

best wishes:)

The good news is that you have an arena that's really ready for any level of this game. Other than someday in the distant future filling out luxury boxes, you never need to build another seat.

The easiest way to describe why the doctor needs to be downgraded is this: you're spending 140k per month, and I am certain that there's no player on your team that you couldn't replace for the 100k you'd save by downgrading to a 10k doctor. (And really, I'd aim for a basic doctor with a 6-7k salary personally). The PR manager as well could definitely be downgraded.

Read this (3944.1) first, then read this (144856.1) THEN search for information from Coach Parrot.

I agree with the idea of downgrading. I still use basic for everything but trainers at D4.

If you downgrade you could be earning around 100k per week next season. After this the only thing needed is good players

After downgrading I would try to find 2-3 18-19 year old prospects (all bigs or smalls) and work on training them during the next few years. If you upgrade a few rosters spots with 10k-15k salary players you could probably win out next year and promote. Depending upon how your money situation is after next season you may have a chance at upgrading a few more roster spots and making a run at promoting the year after that. After that 2nd year your trainees could be decent contributors if they are trained well.

All in all you have everything but good players so go that route. You could have a good few years ahead of you as long as you upgrade your rosters appropriately. You want to upgrade enough to win but not so much that you win every game by 70 points because then you are just wasting money.

Fellow coaches - thank you!

I gave everyone a "ball" because the hard earned advice shared has helped. I found some of the links helpful as well. I now understand why just cleaning out the dead weight and then training everyone wasn't getting be beyond a 2nd place finish in the V-Leagues.

Thanks!

You're paying $82000 on staff in D5 which is astronomical. I'm currently paying under $20000 in D2 because I just fired my trainer and spent most of the year paying about $28-35000. There's $50-60000 more in weekly profits right there. $700-900,000 for a season. That's a lot of cake.

The difference in the quality of doctors from level to level isn't enough to justify that kind of level/expense and it's especially bad when you're on the limited income of a D5 team. Plus you need to turn you advanced staff over much quicker. Look on the market and you can get them for between $12-14000 so fire their ass and get new ones ASAP. But I highly doubt you need to get a advanced PR guy in D5. Just win and you'll get fans. I think basic with a specialty will do just fine.
