I just thought I would start this thread for a few reasons.

1. To make new players aware of Day Trading, so they don't lose out directly and indirectly.
2. To give everyone who doesn't know about Day Trading a few tips and to get expert Day Traders' advice on how to excel at it.
3. To make it obvious that it is one of the ways to win.

Now, before I start, I'm not a veteran and I'm not the greatest "trader". In fact, I don't trade that often and I have made several losses trying to trade.

I'll probably have a few people flame me for the steps, but hey, I'll put it out there and hopefully it'll get improved. That's what I want.

TBC...

Prepared to be flamed Axis....

Step one:

Become familiar with the process of buying and selling.

To buy players you need to go to The transfer list, which is the 11th option from the bottom in the (not recommended) long menu. Here you can search for players using different search options. If you're looking purely to trade, I suggest it is best to input the max amount of money you have in "current bid", choose a minimum salary and, finally, choose a position. I will often set an upper age limit, too.

To sell a player, you need to go to your player's screen. I usually find the player through my roster, which is in the middle of the long menu. Here you can set a starting price and click on "sell". Be careful not to fire your player as some, even expert, managers have done! There are a few trains of thought for selling players to get the maximum profit. I will sometimes set the price at $1 and this will get a lot of managers interested in your player. I have been burned by this, though. The other option is to set the price ridiculously high and cross your fingers. If the player doesn't sell, you can drop the price a bit by bit and hope some eventually newbie bids.

Step two:

Become familiar with the market.

This is not actually so difficult but it is time consuming and, possibly, tedious. It depends on your perspective. As there is no set price that a player will sell for, you have to get good at making educated guesses. The more players you see sell, the more you will have an idea. There is the Transfer Price Estimate, which is a good place to start, but it isn't always accurate.

Furthermore, if you're actually going to Day Trade, you have to consider that the sooner you sell, the larger percentage you lose in transfer fees. I believe the immediate fee is 20%.

Some points to consider:

* Research and learn one type of player at a time. By type, I mean point guards with salary between 10-15k, or shooting guards with at least prominent in jump shot, outside scoring and outside defence. Once you feel comfortable with a type of player, add another type. It's too much for your brain to handle if you try to get a grasp on too many types of players at once.

* When bidding, wait until the last 10-20 seconds. Don't leave it until the last 5 seconds, because I have found on several occasions that with 5 seconds to go, the server can't react in time and the time to bid is over. Be warned that bidding in the last minute really annoys some managers. I recommend they somehow take this aspect out of the game but, for now, it is a strategy to win, so use it.

I'm not a GM, so I can't give definitive answers, but I would ask how you're going to force another manager to buy him.

Can you please rephrase that. I can't work out what you are asking.

Ah fair enough. I didn't understand.

Yes, about this thread... It seems contradictory but I don't really want to encourage Day Trading, but I think if there were many Day Traders, it would remove the negative effect of day trading a bit, due to the balance of the economy.

There's that or the fact that it attracts the attention of the BB gods and they do more to reduce it.

So you're going to spend your own hard earned $$$$ to buy a guy that obviously has a lot of value, then threaten to fire the guy if you don't get your asking price? Even though he'd obviously have value to you and your team?

Personally, I'd be calling your bluff on that one if you tried it. But good luck to you.
