This has maybe been suggested before, but here's my proposal. Some of my favorite parts of games like Madden or NBA 2k are the create a player options. It's fun to make someone up, train them, and build a franchise around them. I think this could be possible within this game.

So, here's the plan.

For a sum of money (let's say 750K for now), you can purchase the create a player option.

You start with a player who's 6'6", allstar potential, and 1's on every attribute. You then have (le'ts say) 60 points to use however you please. It's one skill point per attribute, and 2 points for height and potential increases.

So, let's say you want to make a stud PG prospect. You make him MVP potential and 6'3" tall. You now have 48 points left. Go ahead and get his JS, OD, and Passing to 7. Now you have 30 left. Take handling, driving and JR to 6. 15 left. Take his free throw, stamina, OD and ID to 4. You've got 3 to spare. Take his SB to 3, and throw another point on his handling.

Boom.

For 750K, you bought a PG prospect with 7/6/7/7/6/7 4/4/4/3. Reasonably fair price, right? Obviously, the total skill points a manager would have can be adjusted, as could the original buy price. This was just a start. And, to make sure someone doesn't do this over and over again, after you create a player once, the price goes up 250K the next time, and you ge tthe same amount of points.

Once he is a part of your roster, he can sold whenever wish. He's just another player.

I think this would be tons of fun. It would get managers invested in training, and would likely keep managers playing the game for a longer period of time.

While it could be fun I think that this would do a lot towards ruining the balance of the game.

The market will be flooded with a ton of High potential players. High potential players are supposed to be somewhat unique and if everyone has a few of them this would cause major balance issues.

This would also give large countries a huge advantage in the U21 and NT. Large countries could punch out 12-15 of these guys every single year and just dominate consistently and small countries would be left in the dust. I also think that you would see a lot more farm teams because of this.

Yea... you're right about the market and I didn't think about the farm team possibility..

I was trying to weight the potential a little to make it harder to pump out studs. Maybe make the potential 3-5 points per increase? That way you're sacrificing some crucial skill points. The only way you could get a HOF guy would be to sacrifice almost all of the secondary skills, and probably some primaries...

Or.. what about putting a restriction on those sorts of players. So they can only be used in league play and cup matches, but no national team?

You'd still have some market flooding issues maybe.. but that would get rid of the farm team issue.

why there won't be any farms, when NT prospect only get cheaper but are still needed?

And those dude you proposed goes around 1,5+M at the beginning of the next season when he is 18, ok maybe different when everybody have it but this would make draft investment even more stupid since it is already hard to get the money back today.

I don't think understand what you're asking here. Farm teams would still exist, but not because of this proposal. The national teams would need players the same way they always have. I guess the only effect on the NT would be managers caring less about drafted/NT available players, and more about created/unavailable players. I'll grant you that is a possibility.

Fine. Make it more expensive. Make it cost 1.5M to create a player. And if we're worried about it effecting the draft system (that no one likes anyway) let's fix the draft system so managers have more control over it. That's a different thread though.

My point is that an addition like this might be able to work without negatively effecting all that much. If the cost is enough, then not everyone will want to do it (you can invest a lot less than 1.5M into the draft and get a better prospect than what I wrote). But if it the cost has the right balance, I think it'd be a very marketable aspect to the game.

I don't like it.

It is against the concept of this game.
The all concept here is a real BB-managing game (at least that is what is supposed to be), and building your player through training, and not by creating one.
It is not an instant game (create & play) game.

The closest idea that I would support is if managers had the option to buy a name change and possibly change the looks of the player. This would give you the opportunity to personalize a player if desired but it would not affect any of the competition.

Changing your arena and team name could also be free.

While I thought about it I am not a fan of changing player names. I rather not see 1000 Chuck Norris's or other stupid names floating around all the time.
