In my scrimmage, I set my PF position with Player A at starter, backup and reserve, and for C, I put Player B at starter, backup and reserve. But both of them got subbed out in the 3rd quarter. Why is that?

For players to stay in the whole game, you must use the Strictly Follow Depth Chart option and have no extra player in your available player box. So for that game, you could have only dressed 8 players. It is most likely that you didn't do one of those 2.

right, from the box score it's clear he dressed 10 players.
