There´s no such thing as "proof" about competivity of old nations.
Actually that´s just a matter of perspective. Basically, in each league you´re in (leaving out the micro nations, where truly IS some issue) you can compete IN THE LEAGUE LEVEL YOU ARE within a short time.
There´s only few who keep demanding that you should be able to win it all within a hand full of seasons, but that´s the difference between arcade and long-term simulation, isn´t it?
Competivity overall is fine. With the various strategies you CAN compete for promotion / top places of your league level in short time.
That beeing said - I don´t see a huge advantage over the World League over the Nations Leagues. There has to be a way to fix the Mirconations Problem, but the downsides and intangibles of the World League Structure outweigh the upside.
And I don´t really see how the "World League" would fix the competivity issue claimed by Pini anways.
