In today's scrimmage (45638530) I set a player to play starter, backup, and reserve. He played all 36 minutes in the first 3 quarters and then he sat on the bench for the final quarter. This is the worst example that I have had, but this has happened several times. I did not have any players on my bench that were not assigned a roster spot. Is there a way that this can be fixed?

It is a little frustrating because not only do I not get my player trained, but then another player gets too many minutes and I suffer game shape drops because of too many minutes and too few minutes.

Well were you trying to get two different players a full 48 minutes in the same game? BEcause if that is the case, you need to dress only 8 players, whereas you had 9.

Hmm, I've never seen one like that, with only 8 players dressed. I assume you have all the non-training positions where the backups are also listed as reserves? I had some problems like that originally when blowing out opponents, but hrudey set me straight. Oh wait, yours could also be the result of your starting PG fouling out. With an injury or foul out, usually I think all bets are off on getting a single guy the full 48

I had my roster set like this:

PG: A A G
SG: B B H
SF: C C C
PF: D F I
C: E E E

Now player C got a full 48 minutes (I didn't really care about him, he is a scrub)

But player E only played the first 3 quarters and sat the fourth quarter

Player I was set at PF but played the entire fourth quarter at C

Players D and F split the time at PF for the entire game.

So my problem is with players E and I not playing the positions that I assigned to them. No one had foul trouble (except for player C who played the entire game).

blowout means, the coach tries to rest all starters, since F is replacement for D I as backup is free to replace either c or e so he will come in for one of them or maybe few minutes for c and e.

But this is a normal behaviour, you can avoid it in putting I as reserve(or backup) for C, since then he will sub as priority for c which is possible and the coach is pleased to rest as much starters as possible.

If what you are saying is true, then either

1. the coaching options should be changed to give an option not to rest starters in a blow-out.

or

2. this is a bug

Right, like CrazyEye said, that approach sadly doesn't really work, especially in a blowout.

Ensuring 48+ minutes in a single game obviously makes minute management for the entire team problematic. But that's one of the tradeoffs in training guys.

gotta set them as

A-B-B
C-D-D
E-F-F
G-H-H
I-I-I

for starter-bkup,reserve

1. i don't think this will come, Marin keep repeaten that the engine doesn't ensure playing 48 minutes, and that it isn't really targeted. So if a change come, i think it would be more drastic

2. it is a coaching principle not a bug.

Ya that is what I and I'm sure others do not like, nor understand why its there.

Why put a feature in (playing 48 minutes) that only works correctly some of the time?
