The Denver Daily saw a ton of other newspapers on here and felt that the Mile High City was under-represented. Denver Daily represents its' hometown team of the Blake Street Bombers.
Blake Street Bombers opened the season against one of the few big gun teams in their division. They ran a patient offense with a m2m defense against a Push the Ball and inside box one defense.
The man 2 man worked well. However, patient may not have been the best choice.
Our Blake Street bombers fell at Hell of Bahia arena to the Bahia Sport by a score of 80-104.
BSB (Blake Street Bombers) SG Wang Dajun playing SF for the game trying to cause match-up problems, (didn't work per say) was tied for lead among all scorers with 26 points.
Dajun shot 11-23 from the floor and 4-9 from downtown. Also, Dajun contributed in 2 offensive and 6 total rebounds, 4 assists, 4 turnovers, and 3 steals. he played 43 minutes of action and was rated 6.5 at his out of position spot.
Team Captain Anatoly Tomilin dropped a 20 spot. 20 points on 8-17 shooting, 1-2 on 3s, 3-4 at the FT line. Tomilin also added 2 offensive and 11 rebounds total, 5 assists, 5 turnovers, and was rated an 8.0 with his double double, in 42 minutes of play.
Veteran John Bozek had a mismatch at center, but tough D on him didn't let him capitalize. Bozek scored 10 points. Shooting 3-6, 0-1 on a prayer shot, and 4-4 perfect at the charity stripe. Toss in 3 offensive and 9 total rebounds, 3 assists, 5 turnovers and 1 steal. Bozek was rated a 8.0 for the game in 37 minutes of action.
Fan Guangbang started at SG instead of Dajun. Guangbang was severly outplayed, but still managed 11 points, shooting 4-13, 2-5 from deep, 1-4 (ouch) at the free throw line. Guangbang also added 1 offensive and 7 total rebounds, 1 assists, 6 turnovers, 2 steals and had a rating of 5.0
Trainee of the day Israel Jung played all 48 minutes, scored a measly 4 points. on 2-13 shooting including 0-8 from 3sville. To go with the 4 points Jung recorded 3 offensive and 8 total rebounds, 6 assists, 2 turnovers, 1 steal, and 1 block. he was rated a 4.0 for the game.
Back-up Bigman Marc Langevin played 11 minutes was rated a 7.0 and recorded a line of 1-1 FG 2-2 FT 1 rebound and 2 blocks for 4 points.
Carmine Sturgeon 6 minutes of action 2 points, 1-2 FG 1 offensive and 2 total rebounds, 2 turnovers and a 6.5 rating.
Nate Marquez the most versatile guy on the team behind Dajun, 5 minutes, 1-1 FG 1 offensive rebound, and a 7.5 rating.
Clemence Alston The 4th man on the trainee list, so the odd man out, poor guy 7 minutes, 0-2, 0-1 from deep, 1-4 at the FT line (odd cause he's a strong FT shooter) 1 point, 2 assists 1 steal and a 3.5 rating.
Both teams played normal. Blake Street won the rebounding battle 45-42 but turnovers cost them the game, turning it over 24 times to Bahia Sprots' 13. Blake Street Bombers did have a better offensive flow... but that was it. I personally, think they should have Run and Gun some more in the game.
