The reasoning behind not allowing NT players to be fired, as I understand it, is that there is then a strong chance that they are permanently lost. There is the chance that this may be done deliberately. However, this seems to me to penalize the owner of these players too much. It can happen in the case of novices who buy the $350k player that no one should ever bid on. In our league, it happened to someone who had their $245k guard injured for 5 weeks.
One option would be just to allow these guys to be fired. They would then go on the TL at whatever the fixed price is and if they are not bought would permanently retire. I have no problem with that and would prefer it. If not, then keep them in some sort of BB limbo so they can continue playing for the NT. My issue is just that I could be forced into keeping a player I don't want any more.
I don't understand why the NT teams have to be protected at all costs.
