As per the BB start page, there is a mention to "deal" with the tanking issue. Do you think something should be done? If so, what? If not, why not? I have some thoughts of my own, but am keen to hear what others think.

(Edit: To help you with your decision, it is a good idea to read the thread and look at the different opinions.)

I think something needs to be done about the strategy of buying up players just for a playoff/relegation series. It's almost become the optimal strategy for playing BB, which I'm sure wasn't the original intention when the game was developed.

To counter this: players must have played a minimum of 8 - 10 games / been on your team a minimum of 4 - 5 weeks to be eligible for playoffs. This prevents teams from buying up $200k - $300k salary players for two weeks as hired guns just for the finals.

I like this but maybe this deserves a thread of its own. What do you think? What about managers who tank the season?

If you take the option of buying up at the end of the season away from managers, you'll stop a large percentage of the current tanking.

You can't force people fight for a place in a league if they have insufficient finances or if they have no chances of winning the league. It's a tactical decision similar to the one of not training players and buying cheap 30 year olds.

Perhaps they don't need to be forced to fight for a position in the league, but they could earn less (i.e. decrease the profit margin from tanking).

Maybe it's time the fan survey part of the game was looked at.

Agree with your thoughts that the issue needs to be looked at.

If the 'optimal' strategy is to tank and earn a whole bunch of money in the process, there's something inherently wrong with the game...

Which is easily fixed my making them ineligible for playoffs, unless they have played a certain number of games for your team.

They need to add transfer deadline somewhere just after the all star game and increase minimum salary to like 150% the tv contract.
