Hey guys,

I think I might be the so called "player away" from being able to win the Championship in my Division but I just started playing this game a couple weeks ago and have limited funds.

Should I go ahead and expand my arena again (I already did a minor expansion at the outset) or use the money to try to get that last piece of the puzzle? I make money every week so both things will happen--it's just whether I get the player now and wait for attendance money to expand the arena at the end of the regular season or expand the arena now and use the interim attendance money to try to pick up a transfer right before the playoffs.

The only negative I see in doing the arena first would be if the prices of transfers goes skyrocketing right before the playoffs. In that case it might be better for me to go ahead and get the player now and build the arena later this season after the money comes in. So the question for you veterans really pretty much boils down to "How much price inflation occurs on the Transfer List in the last weeks of the season?"

The bigger the arena, the easier it is to afford more expensive players. Build your arena.

I absolutely agree with you and I plan to do that, but there is a timing issue here. IF (and I don't know that this is true) there's going to be a 25% markup on Transfers at the end of the season, since getting the player now will only cost me about 3 games worth of income--i.e., I'll only be delaying the expansion of the Arena by a few weeks, not abandoning it--it may be better to go ahead and buy the player.

OTOH, if prices are the same (or lower) it would be better to go ahead and build now and have (slightly) more cash to pursue players at the end of the season.

So it brings me back to the original question: Is there a higher price tag on Transfers towards the end of the season?

Sometimes good players will be worth more as teams in the hunt will be looking for a solid player to pickup. Then again, it probably evens out a little as teams also hold fire sales. For Div V you should be able to get a decent guy at a decent price any time of the season. My advice would still be to invest in your arena now, keep getting management experience, and try to win your division next season or the season after. It's easy for me to say in Div III, but there's no rush. The best thing you can do is play the game more and read up on the game as much as possible.

do the arena all day. Why in the rush to promote outta D5? I did the same mistake last season almost promoted to D4 with a tiny 5k arena. Lost the finals helped me a lot. I did a practical "fire" ssale, eve though I just sold my vets and got a massive 450k to build my arena to 6500 seats, meanwhile also getting Val Delonng, a SS trainee. So I suggest do what I did, or somewhat like it, sell everyone 33 or over before the playoff deadline. Then use the cash to build arena and the when after the draft, scout the TL for a superstar+ trainee.



[Note: Val Delong was a steal, most trainees like him go for 100k+, but I got him for under 50k.]

I'm in the same situation as Knightman. Thailand isn't that great of a bball country at all, so I started this year in Div II. I'm top of my conference because I'm actually trying. My arena is still small, but I like basketball, and I like upsets. Even if building my arena would be that beneficial, I'm going to shoot for trying to promote. Will this hurt me too much? All the teams in Div I have arenas at least 10,000 in size.

you could try to fight to stay in D1, considering iff you don't relegate. I've heard from a lot of people in my only 3 month experience in BB that relegating is painful, fans get angry and don't come to your games and you get a painful hit in arena. So if you think you can do it in D1, go for it. If not, go for staying 1 more season
