Hi GM/BB,

Does it mean if I have TV money 200k, my salary floor will be = 200k * 1,8 = 260k?

Thanks

yes. if you have total salary of less than 260k, regardless of your total salary, 260k will be deducted from your cash reserves.

It will lower the income received via not building a competitive team.

not really by much though. i'm in DIII, with tv contract of around 90k. in the old rule our salary floor is around 70k. if the new rule is used, the salary floor is now 90k. that's just a 20k difference. not really enough as a "discouragement" to tank.

You need to tank to get through divIII? OK...

The biggest problem with tanking were the top divisions, where the money gained is a lot larger than you can get from the lower leagues.

no, i am not an will not tank. i've made the finals, just got a very unlucky bump since the other team injured my best player, by giving a flagrant foul, and lost game 1, and at the same time losing the chance to double promote (from DIV to DII in two seasons). i'm just giving a real application, this example is just in our league. i know that it has higher effect on higher leagues, but i still would not think it would stop tanking. how much is the current salary floor in your league?

Yes salary floor means if your total player salaries are lower than the salary floor, you pay salary to players based on the salary floor number.

Our salary floor is 257552. With the new addition it would be 386328 for our current tv contract. That's an increase of 128776, which means 1,8mil less per season for a tanking team. I think it a step in the right direction. Teams are still able to tank some, but the effect is not as large as before. Making teams able to fix broken economys (after overspending or rebuilding after players have ages too far).

I myself promoted to divI first time with salary 275,2k. That was 10-th salary in my divII league. I did have great all around players. It raised to 480k during my first season in divI. So the change now seems ok. Let's see what the next season brings.
