i knew my team wouldnt be contending for a championship this year but i was sure my PF(the most dominant player in the league) would win it. He lead the league in rebounding and was 3rd or 4th in scoring only to be upset by the scoring champion who did little else. Even his game rating was 1.5 points below my guy

Does scoring trump all when it comes to mvp voting? his team was only 4 wins ahead of ours. I guess my question is what goes into determining MVP voting.

P.S my guy finished second

Hers our league

Crap teams who score A LOT will win awards before key players on stronger teams. Sadly its the way it is.

18-4 record vs 14-8 makes a big difference in the voting algrorithm, he had 6 assists per game along with better 3pt and FT%, and your guy had 3.7 turnovers per game, so I actually think it's a fair result.

But if you can improve your teams overall record and cut down on his turnovers he'll be a shoe-in for the award next season.

MVP voting always favors teams that finish higher in the standings. It's not 'best player' it's 'most valuable'. Both players had great seasons but his guy was on a better team.

Frankly, you're lucky that your guy finished as high as 2nd, I don't see players from 4th place teams finish that high very often.

Just get used to not caring about it. I win my league this season and not even 1 of my players is in MVP top 10.

could not disagree with this more!

I had 1 of my players win scoring award 3 seasons in a row, everyone expected him to win the MVP and never got a vote..

This season, i did not have a single player average in the top 20 for scorers in my league, and my player won MVP with maximum first place votes, and all 4 other starters featured in the awards...
