My new draftee is 6'3''. Does being 6'3'' make him grow a lot slower than someone who is like 6 foot? Or is he still worth training?

yeah 6'3'' will make him a lil bit slower but still trainable. You could train him as a SG if you want or do you need a true PG? if you want a true PG go to the TL and get one, while making this guy a second trainee behind him............

So for guard skills, height pretty much affects OD, JR, HA. JS is independent of height and driving/passing are affected very little. OD you need for both guard positions, JR you would need more for a SG, HA more for a PG. Still, that's really only two or three out of the six guard skills that his height would affect in any way. Obviously that's oversimplifying things somewhat, and of course you would like your SG to be able to handle the ball and you would like your PG to be able to shoot. But still, being 6'3" definitely doesn't make him worthless as a trainee. I'd say anyone 6'4" or lower has acceptable guard height. 6'5" or higher is pushing it, but it still can be done.

The old school of thought was the shorter the better for guards and taller the better for bigs because they train faster.

But I think with the new school of thought where you're better off training well rounded players it's far better to have players that aren't too tall or too short so the don't train too slowly when trying to give them the much needed cross-training. Absolutely nothing wrong with a 6'3" PG in this case. I'd be more worried that he has poor starting skills

Is there any statistic how much height influences each type of training? 6'7" to train OD and JR, is that painful to watch?

Thanks for the info, Manon. I'm sharing my data, but I'm off from my personal computer for weeks already and have very limited access only via smartphone.
So I was a little lost with my new draftee. Thanks for the quick reply. Sounds quite okay for me to still train him. He'll have advantage with his training on the inner skills, so that is the price to pay for a decent SF.

Yeah, quite...you will need at least three weeks of each to pop, and that's on a 19y old. IMO only OD training pays off on tall players.
