In my today's game, I set the lineup like this:

Starter / Backup / Reserve

A1 / B/1 / Noone
A2 / B2 / Noone
A3 / B3 / Noone
A4 / A4 / C4
A5 / A5 / A5

I was winning by 50 or so when 4th quarter started. My coach put B2 on Center's spot and A5 on bench. C4 played 9 minutes on PF and 3 minutes on SG when he should have whole 12 minutes on PF.

I was training RB and C4 and A5 were guards, while B2 was a center. I understand the trainer's logic, but he was instructed to strictly follow depth chart. Now A5 has only 36 minutes of training and C4 has 45. How we are supposed to train out of position if these things happen? Since I didn't set "Follow the depth chart until 4th", I consider it a bug and I'd be happy if BBs debug this problem.

I know and it's not the first time it happened, but today I decided to report it to bugs forum because it shouldn't happen. It's even more unreasonable when you know BBs try to do everything they can to help us make more balanced players with cross-training and elastic effect, but on other hand let our coach randomly deny us the 48 minutes when training out of position.

So it's yet another randomness, screwing up the training? Great. Then the substition pattern should read "Try to strictly follow depth chart". If that was the case, I wouldn't complain at all.

Manon said it all. If you want to even try getting 48, try to follow some of the rules the guys wrote in the "Wrong formation/enthusiasm used" thread (26712.1) like setting a player on all three depths (starter, backup, reserve), filling up all other positions and making sure there are no "free" players in the roster.

Not sure you got the point. The Engine is not BUILT to give you guaranteed 48 Minutes. So it´s not a bug if it doesnt.

In my last game I set the lineup like this:

P1 / P1 / P1
P2 / P2 / P2
P3 / P6 / P8
P4 / P7 / P9
P5 / P7 / P10

With "Strictly Follow Depth Chart"
At the start of the 4th the coach switched the lineup to P8, P9, P6, P7, P10 and my two trainees missed out on 12 minutes each. I suspected it would be a blowout so I set some scrub reserves to sponge up some minutes. The coach totally ignored my setup.

When garbage time hits, the coach will put in any reserve or backup he can. So P6 goes in to replace P3, and P7 will replace one of the PF/C, and there are three more players P8, P9 and P10 who are not starters. They'll replace whatever starter they can.

To have the best chance of 48 minutes at the PG and SG position, you can dress no more than 8 players, and should set a lineup like this:

P1 - P1 - P1
P2 - P2 - P2
P3 - P6 - P6
P4 - P7 - P7
P5 - P8 - P8
