Well........looking at the news page and saw the announcement one that I'm very interested in is this:

Many people in the BuzzerBeater community have suggested that some teams attempt to land in fifth place at the end of a season, often losing games intentionally to drop down from fourth place so that they don't have to pay player salaries for a week. In response to this, we're changing the end-of-season distribution of finances: Starting this season, instead of paying no player salaries, teams in fifth place will be required to pay 50% of player salaries for the first playoff week. In addition, as an incentive for third and fourth place teams, playoff attendance revenue will be split 50-50 between the two teams instead of 67-33 in favor of the home team.

so...have a few questions

for 5th place, do you have to pay 50% salaries for *both* weeks or just 1 of the two weeks?

another one:

They said in the playoffs then the inccentive for 3rd and 4th Place teams is now split it 50/50. Is this 50/50 rule only for the first round or is it for the entire playoffs?

and if I'm right, is the 8th Place team in the same boat as the fifth place team in terms of salaries paying?

Hope you guys can answer this thanks ;)

Correct.

Don´t think the 8th placed teams have to pay salaries in that week.

I am still not convinced, but at least its a step in the right direction.

Definitely a step in the right direction. My quick calculations tell me that the difference between 5th and making the playoffs is now pretty much negligible. At the very least, unlike previous seasons any financial gains are definitely not enough to be worth tanking for.

The kicker in this is that you likely get a better fan survey and more season ticket holders for the following season if you finish 4th instead of 5th so you'll lose even more gate $$$ for finishing 5th the following season as well.

and 4th gives you a chance of getting to the conference finals.

Right, which would give your team a little more income for that week.

But for whatever reason it seems to me that only regular season records are used to calculate "I am pleased with the team's performance last season" on the fan survey the following season. Finishing 4th in your conference and making a long playoff run doesn't seem to make a difference at all.

Except if you win the playoffs, but maybe it's too small of a difference to really notice it, as fan attendance is already hardly understandable ..
