I was watching a NT game and the team was up by 28 points going into the 4th and the coach kept the starters in.
Usually you will see the GE say, It's garbage time, and the back ups come in. But in this game they never did.
Why was this? Was it due to the coach running a blank line up?
If the answer is YES, why is it allowed to happen? I hope this is a bug because it wouldn't seem fair that the only way to keep your coach from running your back ups in a blow out is running a Blank Line UP.

So this happened just this one time? Or has it happened before?

I have seen it before but wanted to bring it to light. I don't run Blanks but some people that do have said that there is no garbage time when running one. This sounds like an ingame advantage to me so I wanted to see what other people think. Maybe somebody else has seen garbage time in a game when a blank line up is used but I have never seen it. Or maybe this is a bug? I don't know.

There is no Garbage Time with blank lineup. If you want GT you have to set a an actual lineup.

It's an advantage in a sense that coach tops the starters mins. off but a disadvantage because it increases the chance for an injury.

I run blanks and can attest that my coach shows no mercy. We also run a bounty program for trainees! :)

In that game Jussilainen was set as both backup and reserve for the SF spot, not as a starter. Since coach decided to use him from almost the start, when you entered garbage time, he was the one to pick as a backup.

Marin.....I remember back in the day when the other BB's were always talking about eliminating things that give an INGAME advantage....So now we know that you can not duplicate the subbing patterns that the BLANK LINE gives while setting your own roster. And now we know that setting a BLANK LINE UP eliminates Garbage time. So it seems to me that the BLANK LINE UP gives an INGAME advantage.
Most people agree.....If two teams face off and are of equal power, the team that runs the BLANK LINE UP will win 99 out of 100 times(and that 1 in probably due to an injury). So do you think that having the BLANK LINE UP option is good for the game.....and if you answer YES...Why not eliminate the option of setting your own line up?

Except for NT, I don't see a "no garbage time" situation as an advantage at all, it makes it harder to manage game shape.

Here is my point......A team is up 15-20 points in the 4th Q, the subs should come in..Why is it with a BLANK, they don't come in?
Here is a perfect example....I have a friend, and all he ran was Blanks last season and the only reason he did this was to get the bigger point differental. He said the best way to do this was to run BLANKS so his starters would stay in the 4th and he would score even more. Being up by 40 or 50 and to see a teams starters still in is a bit weak(unfair) to me.

If your friend is ready to ruin is gameshape management, or to have his starters in one only game per week, just to increase his point differential in those few games, it's up to him...
