As you might have read on the Season 23 news, starting next season new players on a team will take a hit in gameshape until they are used to playing with their team.

This has the good side of limiting renting for specific matches or final cup runs.

But also makes it harder for promoting teams as the changes you have to make to be competitive on a new division will take longer to play at its fullest. Also, it is well documented that bad gameshape can be carried into a gameshape slump because gameshape sublevel (DMI) is exponential and gameshape changes are random. Hence building another wall to promoting teams and further helping old established teams.

Except gameshape is set to 7 at the start of the new season and remains there on the first training update. We don't know if this will be implemented in a way that will leave the GS at 7 during that period or not, but I think that if it does it'll just help increase the demand for players to be purchased during the prior seasons' playoffs so they qualify for the GS reset.

Would've been better if there was a deadline at the beginning of the season. Solves everything and only affects cup.

preparing your roster for a new season takes more than that week from finals until fridays gameshape update. Also it hurts if you need to replace an injured player. I think it is a bigger change than a cup trade deadline and as it is, a bigger problem than cup renting (for renting we already have the 4 day no sell rule).

I think it heavily penalizes promoting and demoting and rebuilding teams who are not the issue adressed with this change.

I would like to know how it affects National Team. If my players got sold they would have bad gameshape for the next two games, isn't it?

Does it add new source of unnecessary randomness in NT games?

And more, if Random punishes me by injurying a starting five player should I give up fighting in next two weeks games, as any purchases would be useless?

that seems problematic. have to have a roster set for a whole season, can't make any moves including for injuries? could also create more variance in the transfer list as teams rush to make moves ahead of the deadline and then its TL dead season for weeks until many teams start to get eliminated.

i love this change, realistic too. new players take time to integrate.

It's not random. If you buy a player expect the GS to drop. If you plan to rent a player you still can, but the cost-benefit balance becomes, at least slightly, less attractive.

Well, we could just get rid of..ah, nevermind

Wait, what? I was unaware that old established teams buy and sell less.

I voted no. I think moving the deadline up 1 or 2 weeks would have been more effective.

Now when I trade up my roster for a new division, the players I buy will not be effective for 1, maybe 2, maybe even 3 weeks. GS was a biznitch before and will be even more-so now.

Also, good point on the NTs. So selling a key player for club team will result in dropping GS from 9>7 before an important NT game? Needless.

If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

I'm a big fan of this move. It is annoying and unrealistic every year to have all playoff teams rent a player for the post season and then sell him back if they don't promote. At least this will give them 2-3 weeks of subpar game shape to help counter effect that phenomenon in addition to the increased wages and potential sales loss (which usually wasn't the case).

This game has always and should continue to reward long term planning and rental players are counter-intuitive, imo.

I don't like it. This looks like one of those inconsiderate changes out of the blue, that will have to be adjusted a couple of times and never work properly.

You semi-fix one problem and create a handful of new ones, that's not how it should be. NTs can be sabotaged, promoted teams are under high pressure to buy players as soon as possible, or they might fall behind in GS, replacing an injured player becomes somewhat useless...

No change would have been better than this, you want to fix the cup and at the same time you changed the whole game. How unnecessary is that?
