When do the points for and points against matter in the standings?

I have no chance to win my game tonight, so right now I have it set up as take it easy with my lesser guys in the line up.. basically treating it as a scrimmage.

I came in to the game at last place, won 1, lost 1.. still last place. (I don't count the first game as "my" game since I logged in for the first time in the middle of it)... so basically right now, I'm just really trying not to get relegated. I think I can beat the 7th place in our game and I think he will continue losing since he's inactive with only good teams left (other than me).. which would put me in 7th.. unless I should be considering the PF/PA? Can someone explain it to me? :-)

It acts as a tie-breaker in the event of equal win-loss records. The player with the better point differential will be higher ranked.

Right now you are in 8th place with PF-PA of (-281), and Playstation has a PF-PA of (-255). Assuming they lose their last two games, you would finish 7th with a win, or if you lose by 26 fewer points than Playstation in the last two games.

You can't actually relegate from D.IV in the USA; but if you finish in 7th, you'll play a relegation playoff against the 6th place team in the opposite conference.
