If you are going to use LI, then train IS now. If not, train OD rest of the season.

You might try the Training Simulator to help you get a sense of what you'll get when training your player:

And how you want to train depends either on what kind of offense you're planning on running when he's fully trained, or what will fetch the highest prices on the TL.

First off, a good level of OD for D5 would be at least strong (8). After that, you might want to train IS. This could be in the event that he takes an inside shot, or drives to the basket and for example, has to take a close range shot. Don't worry about his rebounding, he really doesn't need it.

I say be unique and innovative...train his strongest traits...he may have weaknesses, but so what...just recruit teammates to balance things out and if training gets sluggish...start working on the weaker skills then (keeping the "elastic effect" in mind)...good fortune to ya!!!
