I'm currently in 4th place (But that has been because of poor game planning, poor gameshape, and sitting a starter all season). I know that these things are important, but I really haven't been trying. I'm managing game shape now (Most went from mediocre to respectable/strong.) And I have a feeling that my team is about to get hot. Saturday will be a good test, I'm facing the #1 team in my division. Also, yesterday I bought a backup PF/C (Oscar Cortes) which was my biggest weakness. So all in all, how do you guys like my chances of promoting?

As things stand right now I would say that you virtually have no chance.

Winning 2 playoff games and then a playoff series on the road is a nearly an impossible task UNLESS you have by far the best team in the league. But you don't. You have decent starters, a weak bench with terrible game shape including one injured guy who is going to return with terrible gameshape just in time for the playoffs. That's why finishing in 1st place is so important.

Now if you have the cash to go out an buy a couple of studs and carry their salaries for several weeks without losing your shirt, then you would have a chance. But remember, other teams that would have home court advantage over you might do the exact same thing so that's always a very risky play.

He might can sneak a playoff game. but I doubt it

I don't think buying player to promote is smart thing I think buying them after you promote is best climate, because he can know what to buy and keep them and do a smart rebuild . a lot of teams do that and sell those guys because they cant afford them.

Really hurt the ball club

There are situations where buying a player is the only way that you'll promote. I've seen teams stuck in the same division for 10+ years simply because they keep falling just short and won't add that last player that will put them over the top.

That said, I agree that this wouldn't be a wise strategy for him.

You always have chances ... go for promotion !

PS: I was 2nd in Great 8 (6th in overall standing) when I was in D4. Luckily, I won the championship and got promotion.
