If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

Big ballerz 26 20 29 24 99
Scarborough Stampede 18 24 19 23 84

The biggest match of the evening was won by the Big ballerz, 99-84, over the home Scarborough Stampede.

The Big ballerz put it away in the third quarter, taking the lead for good with a stretch of two dunks and a fade-away by Flavio Carotenuto. He finished with 22 points and 14 rebounds.

José María Ayala's 16 point and 15 rebound performance for Scarborough was all for naught, and the team will try to rally in league play to get anything out of this season.

The tournament continues next Thursday night with round 2.

Harlem Strikers 14 8 9 18 49
East-End Screaming Goombas 32 23 24 23 102

The featured match of round 2 was easily won by the Goombas, sending the crowd into delirium with a huge 102-49 victory.

Mikel Álvarez led the way with 26 points accompanied by just 3 rebounds and 1 assists, while Scottish born Alcock McCreadie had a more efficient 17 points on 8-for-8 shooting paired with 19 big boards.

The Strikers backups that were in the game seemed more interested in the Jenga game taking place on the bench than the basketball game. Francesco Mura had a respectable 15-point 12-rebound performance. Song Yuankun won the Jenga game.

Round three will fire up in a week's time, and rumor has it there will be a Naismith vs Naismith battle.

(edit: sorry div2 and lower, I tried... no NvN battle)

Thanks for the writeup - really appreciate your reporting. I was disappointed that the Strikers only played their B Team (if that). I was looking forward to a much more interesting match.
