I am too busy and too lazy to create a poll, but would like peoples opinions on the new season and peoples expectations for their own team as other teams as well.

Right now I looked at the new teams and I noticed that unless they are sitting on heaps off savings they are going to struggle to stay up.

Div II must have gotten really competitive if you look at the new teams and barely see any trainees and see that most high earners are 32-33 + years old and have hardly any sell value.

for my own team, I am not sure yet what to do, it all depends on the start off the season. If it is a good start I will try and win the cup and or league, if the season start is a bad/disappointing one, it might be time to sell most off my players and drop 2 leagues, hope for some good draftees and than rebuild my squad from scratch.

I am expecting a close fight for the league title, especially on our side, which might benefit the other side again. Hard to tell who will win the cup and/or league. I guess it all depends on the draw in the cup and how long people can TIE and stay in the cup.

We gotta have a poll!

Poll:  Who will take the EBBL title in the season of Kobe Bryant (24)?

I am toying with the idea of rebuilding my team as well - there is a big possibility that I might sell some of the high earners to get down to the salary cap and then see if I can get more decent players nearer the end of the season - however this season there will be the added issue of lowering of players form as a result of there having been a transfer so it limits how long one can wait before getting new players in.

The game engine always manages to put the highest ranked promoted teams onto the side I am on - do not know why this keeps on happening but it does season after season. I think they should consider having a random reshuffling of teams on the top league every season to give everyone a fair chance. Three times I have been promoted to the EBBL and always to the same bloody side. Maybe if I go down I might get lucky 4th time round

As to who can win this year I think there is no clear favourite. I like the team Moomins has put together although salary-wise it looks a bit on the high side. However he might have the funds to support this and if he puts a run of away games won together he will get decent money in gate receipts.

Most of the established teams look pretty strong and it could go to just about anyone.

Good luck.

PS I am short of some wheels, at least the 6th wheel and probably some other wheels are not as good wheels as they should be but that is life.

I said

[@ Johannes]You team doesn't look too different to mine so you might do better than you think if you have a bit of cash for a third scorer. Gonna be hard on your half though, I expect to see some big moves for Tata and Tigers with Mikitos putting in a good run. On our half, who knows?

Glad to see Risk and Reward not in our half as they look decent, however Gauson are EBBL veterans who I suspect have fair bit more cash than anyone on our side now. TY and L Dogs might find it tough though, particularly as finishing 6th or 7th on our side is pretty much a death sentence.

For me, I still havent found a centre who isn't just a ten a penny, mono-skilled oaf with no shot blocking and my PF is getting old so I might have to start thinking about getting a bit of money together, I overtrained JR a bit last season and my wages have suffered. Maybe Sharpling will be on his way at some point if I think L'Abbate is ready to take over.

I shall be watching closely how Sharpling does in B3 this season. Let me know if you do want to shift him and I'll try and raise some cash. He's about the only English scorer better than Coates (dodgy MVP votes aside).

Hi all,
It's good to be back. I agree with you, it is pretty obvious that three teams from our side will go down ( I sense that I have a very good chance to go down too!!!). I may be a veteran as you very well say, but I have never been good at numbers and I have been struggling to " make ends meet" for the last three seasons. I need a miracle in order to avoid relegation as finishing 6th is going to be really tough. I have the weakest squad out of all my seasons in the EBBL.....oh well, that's life.
I want to wish you all the best of luck! I can't wait for the season to kick off!
All the best,
Hono

Thank you for your kind words. Division two is pretty boring, I missed being thrashed every Tuesday and Saturday (both home and away!) ;) It's great to be back! Good luck ;)

Now we've got a fair few active posters who are (mostly) nice to each other, I'd like to propose a prediction competition.

I'm calling it Pick 3.

Choose any 3 fixtures (not including your own) from Tuesday's games and predict a winner and margin of victory.

If you successfully pick a home winner, you get 2 points.
If you successfully pick an away winner, you get 3 points.

If your margin of victory is within 2 points of the actual victory margin, you get double points!

Finally, if you successfully predict an OT winner (instead of a margin of victory) you get triple points!!!

Entries must be posted/last edited one hour before tip off. If there's lots of interest, I'll open up a thread, otherwise just use this one.
