The last player to coach they had was Avery Johnson. He was awful. I don't know why they think even more inexperienced Jason Kidd will do any better.
But, it is the New York area, and they need to keep up the team buzz for people to keep talking about.
If you remember me, then I don't care if everyone else forgets.

They should be able to crush the knicks now since Kidd knows all their secrets haha.

Phil Jackson, whos coaching career was wayyy longer than his playing career, isnt exactly comparable to Jason Kidd, who was on the court a month ago. I think its gonna be tough to exert authority over guys who still think about him as a player.

Honestly, I'm not sure why they fired PJ....not sure Kidd will get much more out of the team.

Most former player coaches dont go from playing one day to head coach the next. They spend years being assistants. Many of those that jump straight to head coach dont do all that well. Avery Johnson comes to mind, as well as Magic Johnson, who was one of the best players of all time and a complete flop as head coach. This seems like more of a stunt than a legitimate move to me. Someone like Brian Shaw seemed like a MUCH better option. Perhaps Kidd will work out, but the odds of that would be much higher if he had spent time being an assistant first
