Remember when we argued about which conference was better? Good times!

Here's some more fuel for the fire. Since the Top 6 from each conference are now etched in stone, I wanted to see how the conferences stacked up if we removed all results that included the bottom two teams from each conference. In other words, what were the results of game where someone in the Top 6 of the Great 8 faced someone from the Top 6 of the Big 8. Here's the results:

The Big Eight Top 6 went 22-14 against the Great Eight Top 6 over 36 games. They were 13-5 at home against the Great Eight Top 6 and 9-9 on the road.

It's easy to figure out the Great Eight's record because it is the opposite. The Great Eight Top 6 went 14-22 against the Big Eight Top 6. They were 9-9 at home, and 5-13 on the road.

Take it for what it's worth! I feel that it shows that it is much more difficult to make the playoffs in the Big Eight, not the "easy ride" someone made it out to be.

What's interesting to note is that this all could have changed based on one WTF match! Which match is that? II.2 Semifinal, Demon Hoosiers at KDB in Season 1. KDB's total shafting in that match altered the course of NBBA history, stacking the Big Eight when he eventually promoted next season.

Here's the match: http://www.buzzerbeater.org/BBWeb/bo...MatchID=547079

And yes, this is how I choose to spend my break here at work

Um...why top 6? That seems a bit arbitrary

No, 1st place/2nd place/4th place/6th place/8th place would be arbitrary. The point of this was to see how th best 6 teams in each conference did against each other.

Right. And my point was that picking the number 6 was arbitrary.

Why not 8? or 7? or 5?

Oh ok. I chose 6 because except for your team, these 12 teams still have a chance to make the playoffs and finish anywhere from 3-6 in the Big8 and 2-5 in the Great8. It's my opinion that these 12 teams are the best 12 teams in the NBBA. That explains 6 instead of 5.

Also, in cross-conference play, I wanted to get an accurate reading of how competitive the best of the two conferences are against each other. I also wanted to get an idea of home and away performance just using the best teams playing each other.

Record, at least in the big 8, with 4 teams vying for the last 2 playoff spots. I guess the goal is to see how the potentially playoff bound teams did head to head.

That's right.

I'm fairly confident saying that our 8th place team is superior to theirs!

It's not arbitrary to pick the teams that are relevant to the playoffs.

The 8th place team argument is like saying that because there are 4 teams in the NBA's Western Confrence with less than 25 wins, but only 2 in the Eastern Confrence, that the Eastern Confrence is better than the Western.

Where's the sportwriters of the NBBA to debate this for us? Maybe we can get the sports guy to do a special playoff preview.

I'd use this as an opportunity to pimp my blog, but I'm not that shallow.
