Hi all,

I have no doubt this has already been discussed in earlier threads, but I couldn't find them.
This topic concerns injuries, and more particularly what they cost to a club, financially speaking. In sports, when you lose Westbrrok, you don't pay for him, but you don't go far in the POs. Therefore, I'll just stick on the finance side (sort of).

Indeed, in real life, there are always insurance on salaries (part or all) when you are inapt.
The principle is simple: you pay a weekly fee (even if you have no players injured) to receive insurance.
You could of course decide to pay no fee at all.
The fees would be increased during PO/PD.

There could also be an "injury prone" feature added, that would be masked (like the aggressivity one) but one could see the history of injuries of a player through time. This would of course influence the price of the fee to offset guys buying cheap good players on the market (because known as injury prone) whilst buying a high level insurance.

This feature could also take more importance through time (over 30+ and so on). This could stop teams from dominating a league with 32+, promoting, and then struggling financially (because these players have few value) and demoting.
I have thought of some forms this could take, but feel free to add anything !

1/
This could be a staff member, that would "negociate" insurance when a player is injured, and depending on his level (1-7, as usual), he would be better at negociating the salary that the insurance would reimburse. A bit like the doctor (but with more effect of course). He would not be able to totally refund the salary, maybe cap it around 80-90%.

2/
A constant fee (like the draft) per week, calculated on your total salary (or your league salary) that would ensure a partial protection on all players. This could also maybe be only on specific players (again, based on salary or something else). If a player is injured though, you cannot subscribe to an insurance (as in real life).

2 bis/ A variation for NT players
Also, maybe NT players could benefit from this. If an NT player is injured in an NT game, his injury goes on with the club but the club doesn't have to pay the salary (paid by the country).
This also brings the ability to refuse an NT selection (common in real life, unfortunately). I know this will raise controversy

But this wouldn't totally offset the fact that a player loses a lot of value while injured on the transfer list.
For this, maybe the buyer could pay only part or none of the player's salary.

Hope this thread could bring some interesting ideas and maybe changes.

Cheers

Sure ... but I don't see how your answer adds any value to what I wrote.

Of course the randomness of injuries is questionable - but that is another problem

Lets suppose injuries are random.

Given this, I feel it would be interesting to discuss a form of insurance on salaries, especially for big salaries, for important players (relative to the team/ranking/division) and so on.

But thanks for the comment, you're the first to break the ice !
