I've got a club icon which was drafted by my team, and is now 20 seasons with my team. He's currently 37 and has a salary of 36k and soon will be 38. So I decided I wanted to retire him, perfectly fine after playing 20 seasons on the same team. However there's a problem, it seems that he would just go on the TL, because his salary is to high. And I don't want him to have another owner. (example from football: Zidane just stopped, because of age, not because he wasn't good enough)

That's why I'd like to suggest not to put fired players over 33 / 34 on the TL as free agents (or even with a salary cap, or a different age) .

If you fire him he will likely retire, I doubt anyone would pay $360,000, for a 38yo.

I dont see why the owner of a team should decide if a player should retire or not.

Different games, different solutions:

Each team has a Hall of Fame associated with it. As an alternative to firing a player who is no longer capable of playing for their team, a manager has the option of retiring a limited number of players to the team Hall of Fame. After an initial allowance of three players, each team (with HT-supporter) may add one new player to the Hall of Fame one season (16 weeks) after the last player was added. The players have to complete 3 consecutive full seasons at the club (which is 48 weeks (336 days)) before they can enter the Hall of Fame. So, if you for example rebuy an old player, he has to be in the club for three seasons starting from the date you rebuy him, time previous to the sale does not count. Also when a player is converted into Coach the days start counting again from zero.

Each player in the Hall may be customized. He may be categorised among different classes of service to the club, including scoring, total matches, and faith to the club. The manager may indicate the player's current post-soccer career, with possible choices including agent, referee, and actor. The player's best match and final match may be retrieved automatically, and in addition to that, the manager may choose the player's most memorable match.

I don't see why a player has to lose all his skills and become extremely bad, before he can actually retire.

I think there is a chance it's possible, and that keeps me from firing him. He might retire, he might not. 360 ain't that much.

But he doesn't have the right to quit, because he reached everything he can??

(on the sideline: it might solve some of the oversupply on the market (at least it seems there is))

Sure -HE- is allowed to retire. It´s just that YOU are not allowed to force him to ;)

I am gonna keep an eye out for him over next few seasons. Even if his skills are all ones I am gonna scoop him up for a while. He will never retire!
