I have options for different stats and different positions, but I can't seem to find one that allows a SF only. Not that it matters with my current players and likely training results, since my team is 1 day old, but I do have specific types of players I'd like to have. And if I can't train a SG in outside defense or SF in outside shooting, it won't work. Am I miss training options for SF? The only ones I saw were if he were paired with PF or PG and SG.

You're supposed to play the trainee in the positions the training affects. For example, if it says PG/SG, then you must play the trainee in either the point or shooting guard position. Same goes for anything else.

So if I want my SF to be a slightly better rebounder, I have to play my SF out of position at PF during a game?

If that's the position it allows you to train, then yes.

Just browsing your roster, you don't really have anyone you should be training. Try looking on the transfer for an 18 yr with at least allstar potential for under 50k. You might also want to consider training a guard or a post as your first trainee. Training SFs is difficult because of all of the out of position training you have to do.

Keep in mind that short players train guard skills quicker than big players and post skills quicker than small players.
