After an ultra close season 25 where nobody managed 17 wins and a run of extraordinary good fortune saw the tallfellas to the title on the back of a 14-8 regular season record, the EBBL looks a bit different this year. The red side welcomes three EBBL rookies and the blue side another. Good luck fellas, it's tough at the top

It's all change over on the blue side with top sides RnR and MOOmins blowing it up and looking to rehire, giving Celtic Angels an early season window to get a few wins ahead and try and push either the former champion or contender into full blown tank mode.

White Tigers are still re-tooling on the fly but a sixth sense tells me they may not be far off pressing the accelerator pedal and trying to pick up an entry into B3 one way or another. Zawiska have put together a decent eight man unit but seem to lack star power for a title push.

But for a couple of untimely slips the big 3 of FC, Gazza, Holm and Simpson would've been heading into last season's playoffs with possible HCA, instead of the number 3 seed. They look like they're ready to have another crack. And the Monkeys will be hanging tough out there on the rock, pounding on the door to take the next step from good team to contender.

Meanwhile, the tallfellas are back in B3 blow the budget, TIE every league game, win now mode - with an away game at the reigning champs to test themselves with, and the difficult (but not impossible) task of winning the other seven games to make it to the B3 playoffs for the second time. I give myself a 25% chance of making it - but it could be all over by tomorrow! Domestically, the 'fellas will again be the team to beat in the tournament but maybe not title contenders in the league with unless FC slips up and the top teams on the red side all take games off each other.

Prediction: FC Warriors to claim the conference's best record at 19-3.

Red side is interesting, with three big teams, Wrose and the Bullets trying to join them and three newly promoted teams for a lot to play for, with the rebuilding and new teams on the Blue side, at least one and maybe two will stick in the EBBL.

Of the top teams, the Wazzers are the team to beat on last season's record but Ashington's veteran manager is slowly overhauling his team to play at a higher level and I thought Superhands made a few avoidable mistakes last season that cost them the top seed they would otherwise have claimed, so assuming they've learned from that, they are my pick.

Prediction: Superhands to claim the conference's best record at 18-4.

Sorry to hear it mate, best of luck to you and I hope things sort themselves out for you.

As it stands, Tata comfortably have the squad with the most quality, and whether the league is the priority or not, I feel the outcome is in their hands. FC Warriors will certainly give them a run for their money but when it gets down to the nitty gritty, I think Elmacca's boys will be able to come out on top.

As for the Great 8, it feels much more open at the top. Superhands, Wazungu and myself all have squads capable of winning the division, with Mzungu surely looking to bounce back from the disappointment of Kashin's injury in the final last season. HCA could play a big factor come the end of the season.

It'll also be interesting to see who takes advantage of the new GDP feature and just how much of a difference that will make in the big games as well.

Best of luck to everyone for the season!

2 injuries, 1 player fouled out (in 12'...), 46 FT, I think it was one of these matches impossible to win. :)

This is not looking like a sound prediction!

But a good write up otherwise

Blue side seems to have under performed this season - but I doubt any side in the red half is bored; they're all fighting for something.

Thanks. What a match!

After losing my talented starting SF in the last match, my HK national team point guard got injured trying to make a buzzerbeater at halftime, so my 12k backup played the second half. Luckily Kashin was a man on a mission to avenge last year's league loss (I probably would have won if he wasn't injured in the last few seconds on the 2nd finals match). 40 point 22 rebounds, including 7 offensive rebounds...what a great day he had.

Hats off to Worse Warriors for guessing my strategy, challenging me with depth, keeping it close even when my Loon was playing, and making a nice run to close the gap after I threatened to pull away in the 3rd. Ultimately, it came down to the final few seconds (you tied it with a 3 pointer with under 20 seconds to play, but Kashin slammed home the game winner with 2 seconds to play. It might have come down to Kashin outlasting your Centre in the fouls category -- both had 5 late in the game, but your's fouled first. Your backup just couldn't match Kashin.

Thanks for a great challenge this year. Looking forward to representing you all in the B3.
