I'd like to propose giving teams a boost in attendance for their home opener.
Naturally, there would be a lot of eagerness and excitement for fans to see their team's first home game of the season.
Currently, the system seems to somehow penalize teams in their first game of the season, even if you had a very successful prior season.

I'm not suggesting anything crazy, but perhaps a 20% boost to the attendance a team would currently draw on opening day.

Solid idea, I can see why you want it.

But what about teams who aren't playing home? They are penalized if they lose the season opener away.

Dunno, I would still leave it as it is.

Teams that started the season on the road would still get the bonus on their home opener, then everything would go back to normal.

Agree, my first home game was 100k lower income than normal only because i lost in semifinals before that. After 2nd home game its nearly normal just 20k lower. seems like you get max income only after rival and tv games no matter if you have like 12 games wining streak (not counting one loss in playoffs).

Absolutely, first home game should have a boost, it's also the only realistic thing (people always want to see how the team's going to look this year). Maybe, just maybe, I would also add it to Fan Survey, so that the home season opener would be more important and it would affect the attendance for the entire season.

as much as i want it to happen its really hard

one thing we must understand in real life, if for example you dont build your team up or last season you were just a lost away from relegation or your team didnt perform very well to be competitive

its hard for fans to come in and cheer knowing the first game will eventually be a lost.

truth is i love your idea and this , i to need it . . . but

Maybe those teams would only get a 5% boost?

Brilliant idea. +1. And extremely true to life. I'd even propose it should be likely to sell out unless ticket prices were ridiculously high or the team clearly didn't have a roster that could be competitive. Otherwise, in real life fans are always optimistic and the home opener is a sellout, because its a fresh start, and this could be the year you win it all in the fans' mind.
