I am trying to force a player to play all 48 minutes. I have left the back up and reserve parts of the depth chart on PG and SG empty. I have 12 players on the bench (4 of them are PG/SG that I did not include on the depth chart). If one of my starting PG/SG were to foul out with nobody behind them on the depth chart will I lose the game? Or will the coach pick one of my SG/PG on the bench to sub? Thank you for any help in advance.

if you put your trainee in all the slots, including backup and reserve, and put the coach settings to strictly follow depth chart then unless your trainee fouls out or gets injured he should play 48mins

Yes but that didn't answer the question I asked in my post. If he fouls out or gets injured do I lose the game? Or does the coach pick from one of the PG/SG that is on the bench but not on the depth chart?

The only way to be 95%* sure your player will play the whole game is to set them as Starter/Backup/Reserve, as you have done, play Strictly Follow Depth Chart, only dress nine players (so only have four on the bench) and assign the bench players specifically to be subs at the other four positions.
Otherwise, as soon as garbage time begins (if it does), the player you want to play 48 minutes will be subbed out.
Regarding him fouling out, you won't lose the game if he does.
Coach will decide the best player to replace him, choosing from the four players on the bench. If you have no players available, a Lucky Fan will enter the game.

Does that all make sense?

*Note: there is still an odd chance that the player will get subbed out for a minute or two... no one has figured out a way to avoid this entirely.

so if you have 12 people on the depth chart it will sub him out like you have people on the bench/reserves even if you put him at those positions?

Yep. If you hit garbage time (generally, 20 point lead in the fourth), the coach decides to do whatever he can to pull all the starters out of the game. Even with 9 guys, you can still have it screw up - if your trainee/48 minute guy is at PG, for example, and one of your other players is going to the FT line when garbage time starts, that player's backup will replace your trainee.

So just to clarify. If I have 12 people on the roster for the game and I start Bob the builder at PG and That guy at SG. Even though I have Bob the builder at starter, back up and reserve on the depth chart and I have That guy at starter, back up and reserve for SG the coach will put in a guy on the roster for garbage time even though he is not listed on the depth chart? So I can only have 8 players on the roster they all have to be on the depth chart at another position?

Yes. Any player dressed for the game can be put in by the coach, even if he's not on the depth chart. If you want Bob and That Guy to get 48 minutes, your best bet for that is:

PG: Bob-bob-bob
SG: That Guy-TG-TG
SF: player 3-player 6-player6
PF: player 4-player 7-player 7
C: player 5-player 8-player 8
