When you're trying to set up a box and one with the one guarding the opposing small forward, should you set up with an inside or outside box and one?

You don't. You play M2M.

I experimented with this before and agree.

I guess you need to set up an outside box. The problem is a box defence doesnt usually work very well unless your oponent only has 1 good player or your other defenders are very good in ID-OD because of the mismatches that are going to happend.

Well, my team sucks and so does theirs. The problem is they have 1 really good small forward averaging 32 PPG that I want to limit. I'm using the box and one to limit him and take my chances with the rest of the guys.

Why not just use m2m and put your best defender (the one you want to guard their SF) at your SF position. If you don't want that player playing offence in SF position, then use the setting to set him to play as SF on defence only then

Didn't think of that, but the thing is that my best outside defender has respectable OD(cause my team's awful) and the SF has 250000 DMI compared to my 25000 DMI. I don't think any of my guys could take him one on one.

Outside Box-and-One: The fifth defender focuses on the opponent's best outside scorer. Normal pace.

Outside box and 1 seems to do exactly that though. Give the 5th a 1 on 1 with their best outside guy, the only difference is that since this is a zone, you may get a lot of mismatches on your defensive end.

You guys were right, the guy put up 43 points on me. I'll listen and play man2man or something next time.

That game proves nothing. The problem is you are in div. V and teams there are so bad, you cant really tell the difference between what is working or what is not.

Although as a general rule of thumb, box and one defences don't work too well, and are highly situational
