Week One
Geelong Vipers vs. Chelsea Seagulls 71 - 92 (68609522)
Several key Seagulls had contracts that stipulated that they did not have to play against a division III team so they were without Lawrance, Dexter, Barton and Kumar. In fact only one regular Seagull starter appeared that being Sperbert but as usual he had a fantastic game being one rebound off a triple double. With the Seagulls backup C Hannabuss having to step up and sometimes even start ABBL games after the sale of Issac and the failure of the Jurd experiment, Hannabuss showed why the Seagull management has so much faith in him hitting 30 points and grabbing 18 boards. Both teams went LI/M2M but only the Seagulls uses the GDP and were able to get it right. The VIpers had thre solid contributors with Barzotto, Kristmannsson and Soares all having about 20 points and 10 rebounds. In the end Barzotto gets the edgs with four much needed assists considering the starting Vipers PG had none.
3 Sperbert CHE
2 Hannabuss CHE
1 Barzotto GEE
Chumunga vs. Guanzheng Goldfish 75 - 96 (68609520)
Another LI/M2M game and we thought that were a thing of the past. This was the battle of the big men with the Chumunga big man McVeigh 29/18 taking on the Goldfish's Di Nardo 33/11. While this battle was fairly close the game was determined by a superb all round performance by the second most famous Goldfish and now one of Whitebeard's pirates Virgil Wang who just barely missed out on a triple double 24/9/11.

JW City Bulls vs. Yarra Park Bears 106 - 116 (68609521)
A very close match in this stockmarket clash of Bulls and Bears with YPB again going with the LI/M2M while JW chose to push the ball. TPB did predict the fast pace from the Bulls. There was only one point in this game in each of the 1st, 2nd and 4th but the 3rd belonged to the Bears. There were several top performances in this match but YPB's Stiles gets the nod with an all around performance 29/19/7. For JW the legendary Shaun McArthur was at his stellar usual scoring a 17.5 rating and getting 30/5/7. The last vote could have gone with three or four guys but I am giving the edge to JW's Beaupère 28/18/2 who just had the edge on YPB's Ying Liang 30/10/1.

Baxter Bogans vs. Home Axis 69 - 92 (68609519)
The Bogans joined the majority in ignoring the GDP but were in the minority with a Patient/M2M strategy. HAX missed the pick predicting a fast pace but were just way too deep for the Bogans who unexpectantly had their 19 year old trainee Rãducu Ene play all 48 minutes at SF so it was no surprise to see the HAX SFs post big numbers. Best on field of those that faced a real opponent was Girón Pérez 23/9/1. The one position where the Bogans had a win was at PG where Hau Quan dominated with 36 points although he does need to share the ball a little more having just 2 assists. Finally in just 16 minutes Dilay stuffed that stat sheet with an efficient 17/4/2.
3 Girón Pérez HAX
2 Hau Quan BAX
1 Dilay HAX
