This is my guy. He is close to being capped. 16.54 with a is pop pretty much guarenteed to happen that'd put him at 16.94.
He caps somewhere between 18-20. I do not intentionally train him much, he just jumps in on 2-pos stuff. But since he's close I prob will.

What should I do to make him as serviceable as possible for higher divisions? I know he'll be a cup star no matter what.

Defense Defense Defense. His current offensive skills would probably be good enough to backup at SF in D. III depending on your offense I think. The biggest thing is to get his defensive skills up to 20-22 combined (12 OD 10 ID would be ideal I think). Not sure where that puts him for cap room or anything but defense is the best thing to train if you want affordable low potential players that can still be useful in higher leagues.

Since he is listed as a PF, you can add to OD, Passing, and JR without too much cap implications. I would recommend OD and Passing.

First get OD to 10, then ID to 10, then PA to 9 and train OD until he's capped.

Will that still work? Any cross training at all in IS will pop his IS and eat a lot of cap space

Yes, even with crosspops in IS, DR and HA he'll still be at 99% at the most, 88% at the least. Try the salary estimation tool on buzzer-manager.com.
