Well, since Dire isn't running again, I figure I'll throw my hat into the ring.
Most of you probably know me I would imagine, I've been around for a while. But for those who don't:
I've been around since season 2. The first twenty or so of those seasons were in the ABBL, before I decided to drop to div 2 and focus on training players for the aussie NTs. I managed the Aussie U21 team for four seasons about 12 seasons back.
I've won the cup three times, won the ABBL once, and finished runner up on numerous occasions (it hurts to say how many).
I've trained up two NT legends (Preston Grigg and Les Gafa) in the past, and recently trained up Michael Wayne to be one of our better U21 players.
So why am I running? Basically, I've got some spare time at the moment, and I've always wanted to manage the NT, as I think it is a different experience to the U21 team.
What changes do I want to make to the team? I guess there are two key areas.
The first is communication and enthusiasm for the team, which has never really reached the levels of the U21s. I want to try to get that up, because I think that getting people interested in the NT is the best way to get people to train up players for the NT. One thing I would like to trial is a NT federation - which would be run in conjunction with the offsite forum (because I am aware that not everyone has supporter). This would be a place for people to discuss tactics, player development etc, because I know that people (like me) are too lazy to go to the offsite all the time.
I've also thought about using the in game chat as a communication device, though I'm not sure how that would work yet.
The second area is player development. I'd probably look to implement a scaled down version of the player development system I implemented in the U21s, for players between 22 and 26. One thing I am wary of with the new GDP changes is that the team can't become too predictable, so it is important to develop different types of players. And I think there are a couple of holes I would like to fill in the NT atm (a really good outside shooting PF, for example). Ideally, player development would work well with an Aussie NT federation, especially if the managers of potential NT players are Aussie supporters.
Tactically, I'll let my experience speak for itself.
So yeah, vote for me I guess.
