Hi everyone,

I didn't really understand the recent news item about wages and power forwards. I understand that we do not see many players classified as power forwards and that's something that needed to be fixed. However, I'm not sure what this had to do with wages? Does BB calculate wages by their listed position? Does that mean that power forwards will have higher salaries in the coming season?

Thanks,
Chuck

Iwas also wondering...
They say that PF are a rare kind (and that is very true), so more C are going to be converted to PF, so that done they will not be an endangered species anymore, so why should they have an extra wage-increase then?

I thing it is just an indirect way of getting money out of the game and try to limit inflation, not necessarily a bad thing

Because wages are constructed based on skills as weighted by importance for each position. Therefore, as the importance of some skills for some skills in the PF mix increases, PFs will get a wage increase.

That would make sense but the news item says
Players will not be any more or less effective at playing any position as a result of these changes.

..and that is puzzling. It seems to say that the suggested position is NOT calculated based on the actual factors determining playing strength, but on something that is intentionally misleading ;-)

Not really that puzzling.

A player will not all of a sudden start getting worse or better at a position if his Best Position changes.

If you have a guy that puts up an average 7.0 rating at PF and 8.0 at C, and then his Best Position changes based on that News item, he will then put up an average rating of 7.0 at PF and 8.0 at C.

What he was suggesting, I think, was that we all thought that the weights of skills in the salary were calculated based on how important they are for the position.

I have a hard time accepting that salaries are calculated accordingly to position indicated by BB.

It makes no sense considering that the users are the ones who actually decide what position they will play in.

Its almost as if my SG went up to my teams president and said: hey man, I woke up today feeling like a SF, so I really expect my salary to rise, even though I never actually played at this position and coach shows no intention of changing that. Thanks!

I can understand your point, but I think you missinterpret the change. As I understand it they try to calculate the salary based on a weighted sum of the players ability. However, when calculating this they have missed to account (or rather taken too little account) for some of the abilities that hapen to be important for a power forward. Thus when fixing this error these players will now get a higher salary then before. In other words it is not because they are power forwards, but because power forward abilities where unde valued before.

Btw, the only way they could do a reasonable calculation of the salary is to base it on a weighted sum of abilities, or do you have another suggestion?

What this means "Players in the draft pool will follow overr the weekend"?
It means that the draft will proceed during the weekend, or that the players in the draft list will also change positions?
