I am a little confuse, what is the true meaning of the Outside and Inside of the Isolation offenses?
Does it mean the players, meaning for Outside, the guards and wingmen will do the isos?
or does it mean the area, which will mean that in Inside, the Iso player will try to score in the inside?
The "Inside" or "Outside" just refers to which player gets isolated. Essentially, if you run II, it picks your best inside scorer, and OI picks the best outside scorer, and then the goal of the offense is get that guy the ball and let him create his own shot. They're both neutral focus, though.
Inside isolation is one that a lot of people have misunderstood in the past. People who have run that expecting it to be an inside-oriented version of what happens in a patient offense, expecting their best inside scorer to have 40+ shots, are often disappointed. If their best inside scorer also has poor handling, driving, and passing, they become extremely disappointed as they score extremely infrequently.
