I am a little confuse, what is the true meaning of the Outside and Inside of the Isolation offenses?

Does it mean the players, meaning for Outside, the guards and wingmen will do the isos?

or does it mean the area, which will mean that in Inside, the Iso player will try to score in the inside?

The "Inside" or "Outside" just refers to which player gets isolated. Essentially, if you run II, it picks your best inside scorer, and OI picks the best outside scorer, and then the goal of the offense is get that guy the ball and let him create his own shot. They're both neutral focus, though.

Inside isolation is one that a lot of people have misunderstood in the past. People who have run that expecting it to be an inside-oriented version of what happens in a patient offense, expecting their best inside scorer to have 40+ shots, are often disappointed. If their best inside scorer also has poor handling, driving, and passing, they become extremely disappointed as they score extremely infrequently.

It means which player will do the ISO. If you select Outside ISO, the best guard/SF will do the ISO's, but that does not mean he'lll score with outside shots. If he has good driving/inside shot, he could very well score inside while using outside ISO. That is why it is deemed a neutral attack, because the tactic does not dictate where the area of scoring focus lies.

Does anyone have any data to support/refute this?

Used outside Iso twice this season including yesterday in my season's most important game
My SG
JS/JR/DR/IS 19-15-17-13

Game 1
11/14 on 2 pt shots
2/4 3 pt'rs (Rest of the team went 7/19)
18 of team's 90 shots in 34 minutes

Game 2 - much tougher defender
7/14 2 pt shots
0/6 3 pt'rs (Rest of the team went 4/16)
20 of team's 86 shots in 44 minutes

So 2/10 20% on his threes
normally twice as good 39% (35/94) (Have used many Off but a lot of Motion & RNG)

Thanks.

We'd need more data, though, than that. His D is a big factor.

Outside mean it more for mid range to outside shots and all your players need to have great or the needed skill in that area. Same for iso. .

that doesn't mean there wont be inside shot./outside shot if you choose these two tactic. th majority should be in theres areas if the skill is there to do so

ive got a stack of isolation games from this season and last season if you want to check them out.

(79205196)

(79205180)

(79205164)

(79205140)

strangely, in the II games, my PG takes the most shots, he has poor inside shot though, but high driving.
