I wanted to give some information to people about how much they are paying for their trainers.

I will make additional posts here to give people an idea.

Currently-

There is a bid for 3 million on an L7 with a starting wage of 33551

Assuming there are no additional bids-
This trainer would be ideally traded in after 54 weeks
At that time the salary would be approximately 124185 per week
The effective cost per week over the 54 week period would be 124991

It's important to note that for a 1k signing bonus there is an L7 available at this time starting wage under 125k

Moving on to an L6 example

There is a 21955 available for 1.9 million starting bid right now.
That would be ideally traded in after 68 weeks
salary at that time 57528
effective cost per week 57919

Traded in any sooner and the cost per week is higher

It's important to note this price may raise and there are L6s with salaries under 57k available, however you can find smaller costs in slightly higher starting (around 40k) and much lower signing bonus.

I may evaluate some L4s and L5s later.

Cheers

I'm glad you posted this, I didn't want to take too much time hunting through TL when putting up my argument of why I go for higher starting salary, but low as possible signing bonus trainers.

Thank you sir.

Well done.

I was bored so made a quick excel sheet for calculating the total cost over a longer period of time. Just change the salary

Uhm... but this joke is for only few people because right now there are only few trainer L7 with these "expensive" wages.
And sooner than later these trainer will cost more then 1k on the market.

I think that this plan is good until you'll find your perfect coach with a "normal" wage, if you have a budget to buy him. And for 54 week, 4 seasons you are ok with the coach and you can stay away from the market.

It's a funny exercise.

My 18 y.o MVP has a suggested market value between 750,000 and 1,5 million.
If you want to train him to the point of being a D1-player or the verge of national team play then it's training for 10-12 season.
Say you train him with L6 trainers who you trade out every 4 seasons due to prohibitive costs at a purchase price of 1.2 million (5 million in total or so) .. Expect each trainers salary cost to be around 2.8-4.2 million for a 4 season period then..

I mean - our current market is way undervaluing sunk costs and the value of a player.

Player purchase = 1.5 million
Trainers = 5 million
Trainer Salaries = 8 million

If you sell your guy during his peak age when he should maximize potential and actually help you win something. You are looking at a net loss no matter how you twist and turn it. Feels like a clear cut case of training only being reasonable for your own benefit or selling to managers who don't understand how hard it is to train a player to top level.

(this is not a complaint - I prefer BB to all other sports manager games just because it allows for fun front office ideas rather than click-and-play kiddie stuff).
