If the team you are playing is a bot, they don't care.

If the team you are playing is tanking, it doesn't hurt them and may actually help them.

If you are fielding a competitive team, it screws your regular rotation.

I can maybe understand that it may prevent a needless injury, but we should at least have the option of turning it off.

I agree 100% that there should be an option to ignore garbage time. I would take this to the ideas and suggestions forum.

you have to set your lineups accordingly if you want to drop the hammer for the whole 48.

Well the only way to do what you are talking about is setting your 5 starters as the only 5 players in your lineup and put them as the backups on the depth chart as well. If we had the option to turn off garbage time subs we could still play with subs who may come in for a minute or two each quarter but wouldn't play the last 15 minutes of the game just because it isn't close.
