If you have the top pick in the draft, should you draft for need or take the best player available in hopes of making the most profit?
Hypothetically speaking, if you currently have an 18yo PG with high potential and, for training purposes, you are hoping to pair him with an 18yo SG in the next draft, but the best option in the draft is a 5/4 18yo SG, would you take that 18yo SG over a 5/5 18yo C, who is clearly the best player in the draft? If you got the C, you could sell him for a nice profit and buy an 18yo SG w/ All Star or Perennial All Star potential, right?
Which is the better decision? Take the SG with the best potential or take the best overall player, even if he plays a position for which you already have a really good player, and flip him for someone on the Transfer List?
