Another thought to expand on this. Have the new manager be given like an expansion draft.

Option 1: give the new manager a player pool of say 20 players and the manager picks the 12 or so players they want to start with.

Option 2: same as above with a player pool, except assign a dollar amount for each player. The new manager could be given more than the 300K we start with and use that money to buy players from the pool that they want. The money they dont spend they keep.

- An example of this is just like daily fantasy sports. Your given 100 dollars and you try and build the best lineup you can based on player values.

If something like this ever came to be I would seriously consider restarting. This is only my first full season on here, but like every new manager who has wasted so much money trying to get the players they wanted to really start and build with it would be nice to start in a direction you make rather than the game deciding for you at random. Being a homegrown team as well would add great incentive.

Or if Utopia started this way I may opt to pay the extra fee for a second team.

This idea is really good, the problem I see is that a new manager normally don't have the knowledge of how the game works, what kind of player is better for him or what kind of skills are more or less important. The first think you do when you create your account is to make a decision that can set the course of your team? Anyway is a better than what we have.

True in regards to knowledge of how the game engine works or skills that are important, but it is a sense of ownership of having the choice to choose what players you get to start with and then the choice to grow with those players.

The whole point of my suggestion was to give new managers more options to start with instead of being given 18 random awful players and waste additional money bidding on probably overpriced/past their prime players with still no knowledge of skills or game engine.

Both brilliant suggestions!

Definitely! I like those ideas a lot ... and maybe the new manager will have about one week to finally decide which player to take from that pool. If the new manager was given that time, he might get the chance to get involved in the community and they'd help him choose the right players

That's a great idea! Getting new managers involved in the community is important, and this is a great way to make them seek advice. I see the community as BBs greatest strength. Maybe make that 2 weeks, because sometimes it takes time before they log in the first time, and it may take a few days before you get a reply (at least in the national forum).

Sounds good to me. And I completely agree with you - the community here is BBs greatest strength. Without it, I probably would have quit years ago...

What a great Idea! In this way , new Managers/Players get to manage their Rostern in their contentment way ever since the 1st day without competing and get beaten badly in the Market as a "Rookie" . Nice one guys! And also add-up stuff like you can edit a player name. Like , you want to make a Prospect , you'll name it as yourself. Adds up excitement and more confidence in the game.
