At the end of a season, your fans have seen TV games, rivalry games and your Tournament run, and if you're having a fairly successful season or not. The first game of the new season, you have none of those factors going into play, and so if you had a good season the prior year, you should probably expect that you'll have some decline compared to what you were doing at the end of the last season.

I did not look for the other teams you mentionned but betwen the 2 seasons you bought and sold several players, and probably fired 1 or 2, and that matters for your audience, too ;)
