"Far from ideal" is an understatement. Usa is not even in "Nations of America", so regarding this topic, it is the ID#1 of nothing.

If you take a map, you see the limits are Bahamas to the north, Paraguay to the south, Guatemala to the west, and Paraguay again to the east. So the center of the map should be south Colombia.
The USA is not part of Asia, Africa or Europe either, but it centers over that. My guess is that it zooms to the country ID selected and because there is no nation in the map matching any of the "Nations of" or "Utopia" it then defaults to the default, which is the USA.
