I recently bought 2 low salary defensive stoppers. 1 has 15 OD, 10 ID and 8 BLK and the other one has 15 OD, 10 ID and 3 BLK. They are both decent passers, but not good at scoring. 15 OD is fairly high for my competition. I know that defensive stoppers are valued in the NBA, but I was wondering how successful they can function in BB. I understand that you need to accompany them with good scorers to be effective, but I would like some advice and/or experiences from other managers. Thanks in advance!

Where do you plan to play them?
Thanks for the answers. I don't want to play them at the same time, but both can defend positions 1, 2 and 3 and the first one can defend the 4 against certain players. OD is my favorite skill and essential in slowing down offensive flow. Also it keeps my better offensive players out of foultrouble when facing an strong offensive opponent.

Regarding your second point, how do you predict your opponents' average offensive skill points? Is there a way to infer a numerical average based on the outside/inside scoring ratings in box scores?

I would not base too much on team ratings. They are quite useless in my opinion.
For scouting, I only watch player ratings, player salary and their stats with regard to the tactics used and the opposition faced.

However, team ratings wins games more often and easily than blocks.

That's an over-simplification as you can see in the following post. Team ratings are skewed by all kinds of stuff. Zone defenses, minutes played, defensive assignments and so on.

Not denying it, SB with 3-2 can do miracles here, same as not-primary defs. However, if you have only 5-10 minutes to analyze the rival, looking at team ratings may help to estimate strength of the rival as well, as some of his weakness (low OD team rating always suggest the simplest way to destroy the rival).
