I was away from BB for a few seasons but have recently returned. While I really enjoy this game, I cannot help to notice the abundance of horribly built players. So many players with very high handling and driving but no primary skills. I get that 1 vs 1 is easy and fast but come on - most of these players are hot garbage. The worst part is people are still paying huge money for these duds even when they are well beyond trainable.

While your comment is partially true - boosting HA and DR is only valuable with a balance of other skills. There are literally hundreds of players currently on the market that are 30+ in age, have 13+ in handling and driving and so few other skills it embarrassing. So while they might be able to get to the bucket they have no chance of finishing and are liabilities on defense.

I'm pretty sure he means low or medium potential players with a ridiculous amount of HA/DR. Peopke do not realise they eat cap and cost money. Same for JS and IS which are a by-product of 1v1 training.

My last lvl 8 SF capped at 131 TSP. The last 2 or 3 pops through the cap were painful and I'm almost certain that with lower HA/DR he would have capped later (he was just about in the PG formula due to 1 PA).

This is what I am talking about. The TL is full of this type of player in the 28 to 34 age range. People are paying huge money for them, enough so that it would actually make sense to train players in this fashion.

From my standpoint this type of player is rubbish. Despite having 90+ skill points this player is a total liability on the floor. Yes, they might be able to score but other then that they will get killed. No defence, no ability to pass...

Just seems weird.

The only reason to have high DR would be to have high IS as well. Guards with high DR and mediocre IS are actually bad, as they will take a lot of shots but won't be efficient.

And since I also own a big man with 1 HA and 1 DR I know that is not really required to perform. You can see his stats here http://www.buzzerbeater.com/player/30952612/careerstats.a..., all the seasons he played for me were in D1.

Now, if you take a player with decent to good D3-level skills and then you add 20 skills in HA DR, it won't hurt. I had a guy with 20/20 and 126 TSP, he did play well, but his other skills were already sufficient to make him a good PF. See his first 2 seasons with my team before he started dropping in skills:
