It looks like they are using the same qualification format as the first season, in which 2 teams qualified from each continent (Africa, Americas, Asia-Oceania, and Europe). In addition, 4 teams from each continent qualified for a repechage just before the start of the World Championship.
In the case of Africa with 6 countries, this meant that two teams qualified directly, and the other four qualified for the repechage. In the first year, after a double round robin, the top 2 played for the World Championship, and also played on game to determine the African champion. The other 4 teams advanced to the repechage. It's possible that the orange shading is showing that all teams will continue in the second round of the round robin.
The Americas and Asia each have 18 teams, divided into 3 groups of 6, with 4 advancing. In this case, I'm sure that this would be to a second stage involving two groups of 6. Likely the top 2 from each 2nd stage group will advance to the semifinals, with the 2 finalists (semifinal winners) qualifying for the WC, and the two semifinal losers and the 3rd place teams from the 2nd stage going to the repechage.
Europe has 42 teams in 6 groups of 7. The top two in each group would advance to a second stage (2 groups of 6) and have a format similar to the Americas and Asia from then on.
But anyhow for the other 3 continents, the orange indicates teams advancing to a 2nd stage - not to the World Championship.
