I'm 4th in my conference and 9th in draft position (currently) with 7 human teams ahead of me. I got 82 points scouting points to spend but I don't plan on tanking next season, but my team (plus the money I can spend) shouldn't be able to let me contend.

Since I should probably not go lower (and can't go higher) and the draft after tomorrow night's game, should I just focus on drafting and training prospects for the next couple of seasons while stockpiling resources for a championship run?

Use them when you have one of the top 2-3 picks. 8th is too high, you just need 1 or 2 of the 7 drafting ahead of you to select the 5/5 prospects and you wasted your points. In most drafts there are 1 or 2 18yo 5/5 players at best and the odds of someone with the 1st or 2nd pick not scouting are low.

I have selected 2 18yo HoF 5/5 in the past 10 seasons with the 2nd pick. The first time was with the old demotion rules and I won the relegation, the second time was with the new rules: I got the 2nd pick and avoided the boycott, but I didn't manage to stay up (although I thought I had a very good chance). Getting the 2nd pick without demoting and triggering a boycott is quite hard in D1, but probably less so if you are in a less competitive league (i.e. D3 in a very large nation or D2 in a medium nation).
