Having just read through the game's guide (last updated in 2016 so I reckon that it is fairly accurate) and having an absent GM who seemingly can't be bothered to answer to my messages (but active enough to overbid me on trainers), I foolishly decided to start a new thread to address my questions.

Feel free to banish me if in doing so I sinned in one way or another, otherwise there is nothing that I'd welcome more (as holidays gifts) than some solid answers

Seemingly I am a decade too late in the game, but as of now, I feel fairly comfortable with how the game looks and works so I might say I am hooked on it (I am fairly new to the enjoying/tbr binging-into-NBA the sport to begin with...developed a weird hatred towards the sport as a child/teen).

I had a lot of questions after signing up, but that guide is awesomely made, so kudos to RiP for making it happen and clarifying the most technical of aspects.

Also, I have a fairly bad memory (blame the age and ..other sports)so I am hoping this could be a thread where I can address questions as they come to mind (sometimes I might need to know something and 5 min later forget to ask about it, so no way in hell I'd be able to write down all my inquiries at once)

One matter that I couldn't find a suitable answer to was related to the age-training "relationship". I've read several times something within the lines of "training a player until early-mid 20s"

What is the ideal age to stop training at? or until what age is it worth training a player? To be applied to someone in my situation with a freshly created club and a bunch of past mid-20s useless players. Or more abstractly asked and with a bit of a suggestive vibe to it, how do I manage the training in my situation? - fairly useless players (other than 1 who kind of has an ok salary for his age and will train according to what RiP said in the guide), past early 20s, fairly low on cash and with not the greatest of the coaches either and with no chances (or desires) of promotion

and speaking of cash, what would be the expected seasonal inflow of $?what am I aiming at? How much you reckon I can spend on weekly basis without going bust? so far, the staff seems ridiculously expensive and I might have gone overboard with extending the arena, so I think I am not in a good place. Also, within the same context, how long will it be until I can afford a set of maxed out staff members and be able to realistically train my own LeBron? Would a good pick be wasted on a team like mine?

and out of pure curiosity and w/o any practical reasoning as of now, what is the biggest TSP ever recorded in the game and what did it take to get it at that level? and what is a NBA all star averaging these days? just want to relatively figure how far behind am I
also, what would be a nice starting TSP for an 18 yo drafted champ?. I wasn't quite keen on the draft, but after reading the guide I've kind of gotten hyped about it and looking forward to seeing how it works out for me

That'll be it for now
Cheers in advance for your answers and happy holidays/Happy New Year
Joe

Cheers!

Good to know that I did at least something right by extending the arena
Other than that, I seem to have messed up. Used crunch time in my first match thinking it was the playoffs already (was a bit confused by the "simulating" playoff matches at the bottom of the league page and I thought to myself, great timing! just to figure out that it was just another normal league match...but lesson learned). I did read about the standard tactics that bots use so I'll fiddle around with that for a while. Basically, once I figure out my starters I will only work on getting my game shape on and fixing my enthusiasm.

Speaking of figuring out starters, what should I prioritize? If push comes to shove, what am I gunning for? a 90+ TSP 33+ yo or a 24 yo with an abysmal 60ish TSP?

I did read on how training works, but most of the training strategies threads are fairly old. And is there a reason why I'd have to wait for the draft?. I seem to have wasted a tone of money so TL is not really an option, but I could work with that if that's the best step for me to take. Basically, it comes down to, once again, what sort of players do I need to prioritize?Am I going for old farts with some class behind and a good set of skills (they seem to come cheap, yet with big salaries) or do I stick to my good ol' danish amateurs (especially now that the salary cap doesn't apply just yet and it would save me some money)?

As for the trainer...the more I hear about it,the more I am certain that I made a mistake by investing in one. Not to mention that I pressed some other wrong buttons and hired even more staff (go carried away by the idea of having one of my players join the staff too)

Thanks for all the answers though. Still keep on seeing how a "beast" of this game really looks like

Happy New Year! to begin with
I'll focus on that, but I wouldn't want to be in a "comatose" state for the first few months, just to go wild after (can't guarantee my enthusiasm will be the same)
But I will train a PG and a PF for now ...or at least I think I will be doing that (still trying to get a hang of how to distribute the minutes - it tickles my brain and I kind of like it). Just to get used to how to handle training in the future as efficiently as possible
Do the minutes in scrimmages count for training?

And cheers for the transfers advice. Really appreciate and will keep it in mind. That's the kind of information I like

Now I need just to keep my hands away from the TL and fire a couple of more lads

I might sound like an idiot for asking this, but the silent one is always the bigger fool

Is there a reason why I am not able to have more than one training covering 2 positions?

I seem to missing out on something and couldn't really find the answer in neither the manual nor the guide

whenever I select, let's say shot blocking, to be trained for C/PF and update it and then go to pick Inside Defense for the same group of players (C/PF) and update it again, the shot blocking training reverts to one position only (C) even though I've updated it for 2

You can only have one type of training per week. The default training for shot blocking is single position (C). So if you pick shot blocking for two positions that will be the training executed on Friday. Unless you change your training that will remain your training choice.

To be clear, whatever training you have selected at the time of the training update Friday will be the training applied to the players that played minutes at the trained positions.

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, I see

and here I was, hyped that I will be getting to train so many players at a time (was already working on cross training, maximizing game efficiency...spent a whole afternoon putting all the info into the spreadsheet)
pfuuu, that kind of kills my enthusiasm for the game. First punch to be knocking me back into reality. So it is one of those auto-pilot games as well.

good that I didn't go full retard and buy that +1 one year membership...booyy, would I have been in for a surprise; having 2 cans of paint spread on the wall waiting to dry would have been a good start for the new year

Thank you Sir. I owe you a drink

PS: is the training at least happening at a decent rate or is it one of those where you can go on a holiday until the next winter holidays?

Welcome! I didn't read through all the previous replies but I'm assuming you already got some answers for your questions. When it comes to training and your most recent questions about its speed etc, I'd recommend checking out a thread "Training Simulator" http://www.buzzerbeater.com/community/forum/read.aspx?thr...

As for the spreadsheet itself, here's a link for a rather good one so you don't have to create one by yourself. Going through different sheets you'll also find the training speeds and the age, height, and trainer coefficients aswell.
