How do you guys understand the player cap thingy? I mean sure we already know a lot about it, but how about the details?

Let's assume I have an MVP trainee with 9.4 hidden potential. Once he exceeds this 9.4 mark (reaches the soft cap) his training continues but at a much slower rate. First question here:

1) How much slower? I know coach parrot says 33% of the original tr. speed, but has anyone had thorough experience with this and some empirical data preferably?

Continuing on, let's again assume that the trainee has reached this soft cap very early in his development and I've been stubborn as hell on training him many more seasons. He now stands @ 10.0 potential. Second question here:

2) Is there a hard cap? I mean is there such a thing that if an MVP player reaches 9.99 (or a HoF reaches 10.99 etc.) his training stops completely and nothing further can be done to improve him?

And a third thing that is now pure speculation. Let's assume that there is a bug(feature) in the synergy between gym and training court, which results in cross-training as a result of the passive free throws training (and stamina training for that matter).

3) Does this decrease / stop when the soft / hard caps (if there is a hard cap) are reached? 'Cause we know that the free throws/stamina trainings do not care about potential.

Thanks for your reply, mate! And kudos for your activity in the forums lately. Glad to see that Bubbles BuzzerBeater's disposition towards BB is now again positive. ;)

@1) Coach Parrot is pretty accurate for the most part, so I too trust this to be close to the actual % but since I have virtually no experience with past-the-cap-training, I was hoping for an input from someone who has done it for a long time, intentionally. On an NT player probably...

@2) Yep, I've seen some players who are well past their perceived max potential as well. I agree that probably there's no such thing as "hard cap", except when the player reaches 34 ofc. Just hoping for a confirmation from Justin, but he is not so inclined to share "inside info" recently, rightfully so.

@3) As I said - that's just a speculation but I myself believe that there are some serious grounds to consider that those effects are actually present. Whether it's a bug or it's indeed intended to work that way I can't really say.

Thanks, Joe!

Assuming his DV is high compared to the other related skills which is usually the case, the normal (before cap) gain @27 should be somewhere in the range 0.08 - 0.12 per training, meaning that @ 33% (after cap) it should be ~0.03-0.04. 18 trainings times that is ~0.5 - 0.7 total gain without a pop, so 33% still remains a valid guess, consistent with your case.

But yeah, it gets damn slow at the end...
