However, with your suggestion, there is not even a reason to keep the "45-48 minutes to train" principle, we could chose who are the 3/6 players getting full training and that's it.
This concept is something that crosses my mind whenever I think of how I would construct a theoretical Buzzerbeater reboot. I love training players, but the Hattrick model of doing so isn't particularly enjoyable for me. Battrick (HT clone for Cricket) solved this with a training nets system that I thought was a lot more elegant; 10 weekly slots that you could assign freely to as many or as few players as you want, with diminishing returns if a single player was given multiple slots.
If I could rework training to be more inspired by Battrick, my idea would have all players get the cross training based on how much they played that week (48 minutes for full training, but position doesn't matter). Then your main training would involve choosing a specific attribute to focus on in a 2 vs 2 drill, independent of minutes.
