The description of Overextension Tax is the "difference between the current overall salary with the combined overall salaries of the players when they were first obtained". Does that mean that if you have a player who's salary has fallen since you bought him, it would cause you to pay more Overextension tax?

I understood the calculation about overextension tax but what is the reason to pay it if you have positive weekly net income?

Player Salaries: $ 150 732 Attendance: $ 90 760
Staff Salaries: $ 34 246 Merchandise: $ 20 843
Scouting: $ 0 TV Contract: $ 74 251
Infrastructure: $ 0
Total: $ 184 978 Total: $ 185 854
Typical Weekly Net Income: $ 876
Overextension Tax*: $ -5 122

Yes i understand this...my question is why it is the average and not the last week...not very important but wanted to know the reason
